Meet Jesus
by Keith Reedy
I think I would be doing you a great disservice if I did not tell you how
it all began for Suzie and me, how we became part of the family of God.
I want this to be simple for you, because it was simple for me once I saw
the whole thing.
Jesus died on the cross and rose again three days later.
Why?
I believe that one of the reasons He did so was to show us that anyone powerful
enough to do that was (and still is) worth listening to and worth following.
Once I understood that Jesus had done all of that just so He could get my
attention and get me to follow Him, I knew that there was something special
about this Jesus.
I was really tired of trying to fight the world all by myself and I just
gave up to this Man who had suffered so much to convince me to follow Him.
And, when I gave the leadership of my life to Him, and told Him so in my
own words, I became sorry for the mess I had made of things by being so bullheaded
and trying to do things my way. I really wanted Jesus to forgive me and to
begin to make things right and I told Him so in my own words.
I really meant what I had said. I was not merely mouthing the words. Just
saying the words, and not meaning them, just would not do. Jesus is no dummy.
If you are not telling the truth when you say that you are going to follow
Him, or when you say that you are sorry for the mess you have made of things,
Jesus will know it. And Jesus will wait to respond to you until you really
mean what you say.
I asked Jesus then and, I hope, nearly every day after that, to show me which
way to go. He died for me, for us. He rose again. He forgives us when we ask,
if we ask sincerely, if we really mean it. And, if we ask Him, He will help
us not to make the same mistakes again. |
He taught us ... and He still teaches us
He answered prayers for us then . . . and He still answers prayers for us
today.
The Gift
YOU'D be surprised If you knew how many blessings God wants to GIVE you.
And all of these gifts are found in THE
gift of God -- His own dear Son.
"God so loved the world, that he GAVE His Only
Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have
everlasting life." John 3:16.
God gave His Son. Isaiah prophesied 600
years before Christ came, "A Son is
given." Isaiah 9:6.
Paul, speaking of God's Son wrote,
"Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable GIFT." 2 Corinthians 9:15.
You want peace with God? You
long for hope? You seek forgiveness? God wants to give you all these!
You yearn for hope? You want
to know for sure that you are saved -- that you have eternal life? God wants
to give you eternal life!
YOUR NEED
A police officer said, "Oh
that I had a telegram from heaven telling me that my sins were forgiven."
Perhaps you are like that officer.
You know you are a sinner because the Bible says, "All have sinned."
Romans 3:23.
Then you must know that you are
under the penalty of death, "For the wages of SIN IS DEATH." Romans
6:23.
But!! "God commendeth (demonstrated)
His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8
The Lord Jesus proved His love
for you when He gave His blood, His life on the cruel cross to pay the wages
of sin.
He rose again. Now He is seated
at "the right hand of the Majesty on high" (Hebrews 1:3)
God offers His Risen Son to you
as His GIFT. Receive His Gift! You will not only have HIM, but you will have
all that God offers you in Him.
All of God's Gifts are found
in The Gift of His Son.
FORGIVENESS. "IN WHOM we
have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." Ephisians
1:7
PEACE. "HE is our peace."
Ephisians 2:14. When you receive Him you'll have peace.
ETERNAL LIFE. "This is the record, that God hath given to us eternal
life, and this life is IN HIS SON." 1 John 5:11-12
"He that hath the Son hath life." You
cannot WORK for salvation. You will never DESERVE forgiveness. You cannot MERIT
peace.
But God will give you all these blessings in His Son. Your part is to TAKE
God's Gift, His Son, as your Lord and Saviour.
"As many as received Him, to them gave He power (the
right) to become the sons of God." John 1:12
What a tragedy to refuse God's Gift! Tell The Lord Jesus Christ you receive
Him now.
By Paul Levin.
I know I am a lost sinner. I do not deserve the Gift of God. But I do receive
Him now as my Lord and Saviour. By His grace I intend to confess Him before
others.
